The lx-euclid-01 is a powerful Euclidean rhythm module capable of creating 4 Euclidean rhythms and/or 4 Probabilistic Turing Machine. Here is a list of all its feature:

  • Up to 4 Euclidean rhythms with up to 64 beats

  • Up to 4 Probabilistic Turing Machine rhythms

  • Clock divider for each rhythm (1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16)

  • Configurable output gate time

  • Randomizable output gate time

  • 2 presets saved in memory

  • Quick actions on the 2 touch circles

    • change rhythm (beats, pulses, offset) (one rhythm or all)

    • change probability of rhythm (one rhythm or all)

    • change output gate length

  • Quick actions on the encoder and tap button long press

    • reset

    • change preset

This module was created after some search about what was available on the market in therm of Euclidean Rhythm Eurorack module. And in my opinion, everything was terribly not user-friendly. Most of those modules uses LEDs to represent the created Rhythm, which create for me their biggest problem: your rhythm length is limited by the amount of LEDs on the module. This is such a big flaw in those designs. This is why I chose to go for a screen but to make not loose the circular representation of Euclidean rhythm of the other modules, I chose to use a smartwatch round screen.

Using a circular screen lead me to my user interface problem, a famous Euclidean Rhythm have an encoder in the middle of its LEDs ring which is super user-friendly but in my case impossible, my screen doesn’t feature a hole in its centre. This is why I decided to create some touch sensitive circles around the screen whose can be used to navigate through the UI but can mostly be assigned to a specific action chose for live performance control.

The final module is made of 2 PCBs, the front panel including the touch sensors and the mainboard PCB. Both were done using PCBWay services.
